Mission

Western Center Academy actively engages students in learning science, technology, engineering and math.  Learners will be well-prepared for a  STEM major and STEM career through a combination of rigorous, accelerated coursework as well as opportunities for community service, project-based learning, educational outreach, technology integration, and working with practicing scientists and engineers.

Vision

Western Center Academy will continue to be a leader in education through the innovative use of science, technology, engineering and math as the foundation for a rigorous and exciting multidisciplinary learning experience for our students.

Museum Discovery Learning

The central instructional goal is to integrate a “museum discovery” based approach with the formal educational methods commonly practiced in schools.  Museum discovery based learning, which is unique, experiential, active, participatory and uses real specimens implies that the formal connections between the Western Science Center and Western Center Academy are complementary.

Lab Sessions

Every day, students will have the opportunity to learn more about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in specialized lab sessions.  These classes will allow students to use inquiry-based learning models to explore subjects including paleontology, archaeology, robotics, sustainability, forensics, coding, statistics, aquatic biology, and geology.
