This is the recording from the August 13, 2020 information night for parents to ask questions about the distance learning plan.

I'm so poor is a week we'll have an opportunity to be able to have a SD reach out to be able to do their daily announcement to be able to make sure the students have an opportunity to all come together as a group and then we go straight into on that month a. 1 2 3 and 4 they're all 30 minutes in length and then we have a lunch break also 30 minutes and then we come back for. 5 and 6 that does not necessarily mean that your student is going to be sitting in front of a huge I'm straight for that entire time the goal is that the teachers wants to be able to have a check in at the start of the week with all of your students there may be some direct instruction going on during that time a teacher on the math teacher maybe setting the stage lesson and doing a direct instruction assignment during that 30 minutes and then the next. The biology teacher may have a short 10 minute warm up check in and then allows us to be able to go and do some asynchronous work it was really important on that Monday to be able to have a check in time for all of our students be able to get set with what the expectations are for the weak to come and then in the afternoon we have to. It was called academic coaching and think of that as office hours that the teachers will be running that they're responsible for being able to work in small groups and be able to have time to do more specific coursework to be able to do review session especially for are AP classes that they may not have time to get to during the previous part of the day or going into the week now you'll see it starts to shift a little bit on that Tuesday and Thursday we will be doing all 6. Everyday however the expectation on Tuesday through Friday is that we need the students to be able to block their time in the morning for just over or just about 2 and 1/2 hours ago these times are designed for the students to be able to be working synchronously in their courses with their teachers and weed are our students have a wide variety of courses that they're taking but this is the time 1 2 and 3 to be able to focus on the first second and third grade classes there 45 minutes in length and then the students have a synchronous unstructured academic time in the afternoon and that gives him an opportunity to be able to continue you worked on it was set forth in Monday continue to do that work on Tuesday in the afternoon and then really be able to work at their own pace with that and then we go into Wednesday and you'll see the again we flip it so that the students have that synchronous time in the morning live with their teachers but now it's 4 5 and 6 and then the one two and three. They have asynchronously where they have opportunities Dixon I need to do work or those glasses but it is in a more unstructured environment where they can meet with their peers and do small group they can work at their own Leisure if they need to take a mental break on they can do so and come back to that work at another time and then we go back to Thursday so again the students have one two three in the morning 456 unstructured asynchronous in the afternoon and then end on Friday again with or 56123 so that means that Oliver since we'll have daily live instruction all day on Monday and then they will see live synchronous instruction with at least three of their teachers but during that core part of the morning Tuesday through Friday expectations on for all of our students as they're going through is very similar to what we have along the way I'm with our normal setup we expect the students to be on time we expect us to to be dressed and ready to go we'll talk about the expectations for those Google meet as part of that and then just the students being able to find a time and the space within that structure time that they can satisfied whether it's in a different room is at the quiet place at the dining room table on to be able to make sure that they can focus on school work during that time we know that sometimes it can be tough when you look at a full day on to be able to make sure that they can I'm having an entire spot to be able to be effective over really hoping by chunking that time down steps 2 and 1/2 hour block that the students will be able to really focus during that live engagement and then miss Thornburg if you wanted a play expectations with the Google meet we can jump into that real quick and so this is something that's gone out to all of the student and mr. Briefly about in a little bit more with Google Classroom about why we need have the students using the school issued Chromebook but it's important just like with this meeting to come in and be able to make sure that your microphone is on mute with so many students coming in and out that's a big part of it when they have questions are we not I need to be able to raise hands or to be able to use this and then also the camera to be able to make sure that the camera is turned on so that we can engage and to be able to see our students and to be able to have that part of it lots of our students are no from either gaming or other activities that they know that it's best to be able to wear headphones in order to be able to isolate out exterior sound and also to be able to make sure that they can be seen well contribution I'm being able to use the text and being able to hyperlink ideas and to the Google Drive and of course etiquette is an expectation we have kind of across the board of being polite respectful an attention all those wonderful things what kind of roll into communication next the information will be recorded and so we will be on the Syfy clear at the beginning and we are recording this entire session a good question and we'll put it on in case you need to go back in to refer to anything specifically so communication thank you one of the ideas is that we're going to have on our webpage if you go to our web page there is going to be a part for a Google form for people to be able to contact for assistance we will have people in the office but we will have her do staff and so one of the big pieces that we want to try to be able to respond to you as quickly as we possibly can but we will have somebody at the phone but not necessarily as many people are highly encouraging you to be able to have the Opera I used to be able to email us directly or to fill out the form and there will be things on the farm to be able to rate your level of immediate need all the way down to just a reminder that you generally need something to be able to make that work my email is again is one of the best ways to be able to communicate part of that piece with the student advocacy which would talk a little bit about later is to be able to make sure that your student is working to advocate for themselves and if they are are having an issue if they're concerned about something to be able to reach out to myself misreporting Miss RV or any of their direct teachers with a concern about how to be able to make that I will also be posting under latest news I believe is where the direct link is where that Google form and so that's another place to be able to find it Google Classroom is at the apartments on Bert where you wanted to chat about text you're on mute yes so and because we're on this there's a few question in the chat that I can just answer Google Classroom is rlms so students will access all of their High School classes to Google classroom they do not need to join code all students automatically be loaded into their Google classroom in their Google Classroom is where they find their meat cuz so we don't use do we will use Google meet in each classroom if that's hot is the meat code so that's how students will login for those synchronous sessions teachers will email those out to you but you didn't have access to them in the Google Cast all the time we know that that's a lot so if you have questions because you are trying to support your students we have a few options on Tuesday late afternoon at 5 p.m. we're going to have text Tuesdays we will start next Tuesday with Google classroom and I will show you how to find I hope your kids find something and then take questions after will do those every Tuesday at 5 for as long as we need to as long as there's people coming and have questions on any support so watch for that email it's going to go out Monday with the links mr. Bailey went over the form if you need immediate help help that day or it's Wednesday morning and you figured out your question put it in that form we can figure out the right person to contact you then and we are working on a website with the frequently asked questions the problems that occur frequently and that hopefully will be out by Monday and it will be linked to our website so that it's easier fi I'm going to have a wonderful thank you I'm going to take a break real quick and try to answer some of the questions in the chat on some of them we may still go over but just in case the answer for it was answered I believe further down about zero. But because that is an msjc concurrent enrollment class it will be completely asynchronous and so on the students never have to live check in for that I'm that is from msjc and so that should be for all of the dual enrollment classes that we run so guidance world religions and both of the English 101 and then 103 and the teacher will be reaching out and I'm making sure that the sea aware of all of that information Amy Bailey had a question of Silver Spoons not required to check in online at all during the AC furnace. That's correct they do not have to check in but that is also the time that the teachers will be setting aside during their asynchronous. To be able to provide assistance if the student needs to reach out to go to set a time to be able to reach with that teacher there will be available the teachers are working during a time it's just the Sims 4 now elected to have a check in on synchronous. During that time and I think we answer the question that we will not be using Zoom we will be using Google classroom and Google meet and both of those are the ones that are supported by I haven't unified is it mandatory to have the camera on that is part of our expectation on there are some reason for that primarily around engagement and making sure that the students have the opportunity to be able to work with their peers and to stay engaged highest level possible if you have specific concerns or questions in regards to that please reach out and we're more than happy to be able to have that conversation individually questioned why did they not just have a normal everyday school schedule because we like to be different and we like to be special occasion that's a great question part of it was in the conversation is making sure that the students have a bit of time to decompress a little bit and that was part of the structure being able to make sure that we have the core time in the morning to be able to work even as an adult and an educator those you guys did are used to it once you sit in meetings all day long it's tough and we really want to make sure the didn't have an opportunity to be able to stretch their legs a little bit and so we can dance that part of the time in order to be able to give a little bit more flexibility and especially with some of the assignments in the projects that the students have plans on just like we do on a normal fly word of environment to be able to give them access to be able to work independently with their groups and their peers on for sightly longer periods of time are seniors in college applications on will go over there in just a little bit there's a direct link website is well and Miss RB has a special website to Simply set up to be able to work on counseling issues and she will also be holding small group small meat sessions individually and in small groups with all of the scene to be able to go over that processing to go through everything absolutely do not worry we will be taking care of all of you and I think we said this is where we started from the Snell yes it will be recorded and we will put it on the website we can send it out to everybody as well as yes Miss RV college application workshops and everything else because she's awesome and we're going to try to have his clothes to normal for the kodiaks we login for small groups yes there will be when they establish small groups there will be a Google meet sent out to the students that need to be in that session and then if a student needs to be able to meet with the teacher during one of the asynchronous times they will be able to reach out to them and be invited to at how do we get class notes for each class next on Google Classroom the teacher's will be emailing all of the students in order to be do that check in and so just make sure that you're checking your individual Hemet USD email and you should be able to have that information will teachers be posting office hours teachers have planning to prep time in the morning and small group and then communication in the afternoons there's a 31 minute window for teachers to be able to do that and that's just right at the end of the day if you need to meet or work specifically with the teacher I just encourage you to be able to reach out and to be able to email them and will be able set up a time answering the small groups part how does synchronous learning work with college enrollment classes because all of our students are enrolled in college classes will be all the college courses when Baldwin are already most of them asynchronous and online between Coastline and msjc and so the students will be doing the college work in their college enrollment. And so they will check in with their teacher they will you let the teacher know where they stand up feeling if they have any questions about the work and then they most likely will have opportunities to go and work asynchronously understanding that with that two and a half hour Block in the morning or 1 to 3 456 working synchronously that does not necessarily mean that the entire 45 minutes is going to be filled every single day there may be times where a teacher is giving a 20-25 minute lecture and then they have the suit break out into groups or to go start keen on Independent projects and so are we start on their homework or no other pieces and doesn't necessarily mean that they're tied down in front of the screen for the whole 45 minutes every single time Arby's do they have to login for asynchronous now there are there will be a assignments associated with all asynchronous work and so that is what reflects and gives them a tendance for does asynchronous * home internet connection extremely unreliable will all classes be recorded for View at a later time yes that's part of the expectation for the teachers to be able to record their sessions so that students can do that I'm out of their time so we had earlier in the day with middle school was around that question of just what happens if the internet goes out and my kiddo can't get online and they can't function that environment everything will be recorded put as a recording into the Google classroom bird on that day so soon can go back and watch it and then send the teacher an email just letting them know that they were able to watch it and that they were able to get caught up and then the teacher will go back and work with the attendance I grade than academic progress will be posted in Aries freshman should have already received their Chromebooks I'm as part of the registration process and distribution I believe that we had everybody Brew except for two students total in the school on a 737 and says the outstanding job but if for some reason you didn't get yours reach out to mr. Horton at and put his email in there as well I'm in the follow up and we'll be able to get you taken care of DSL Frontier with we know we're going to do everything we can to work the bat free hotspot again email mr. Horton if you think that you are in need of a hotspot and we are working on getting those and getting them distributed first question you guys are very chatty this is wonderful this is what we expected but I just want to make sure the work on freezing misreporting in the storm Burger continuing to moderate the chat and so I'm going to jump back over to the general peace and then see if I'm we can answer a few more of those questions on academic Integrity is one of the pieces that we want to make sure that we will continue to drive home with all of our students this is a different environment and we know that there can be a lot of pieces that are out they're on there are plenty of resources available on the internet are teachers are going to be working to be able to do the best that we possibly can be able to provide a high-level rigorous academic environment for students to try to be able to make sure that the are producing authentic work that can be verified and so that's going to take a couple of different forms and it will vary based on the class but we're pretty excited about having ways to be able to rethink How We Do assets in order to be able to take care of these kiddos I Counseling Services we talked about the summer was able to show you on the website where you can go we encourage the students be able to take a little time to be able to jump into that of the counseling and right there on the front page in to be able to click through to it and to be able to see everything that miss Harvey has taken the time to be able to create IWC is helping your student to succeed is the next part when the big pieces that we are going to be really really big about attendance and being able to have the students do their checked in and do you will be receiving emails and phone calls possibly carrier pigeon to be able to make sure that we are getting the students in class every single day to be able to have a check in time to be able to provide guidance I'm going through that process we will have academic and support and coaching on both asynchronous time group I'm in the afternoons we have an array of tutors Martinez back to be able to help with mathematics and we will also have some of our recent graduates as relatively graduates were still in college on who will be working on scooter as tutors and will be able to help the students throughout the course of the year we are currently working on putting together a schedule and what exactly it's going to look like but we will be able to support to our students and one of the big questions and I know  hurting and I were talking about it earlier with milk both parents who have the question of I don't know what to do you know what I can't do this map anymore I don't know what to do to be able to help my kid and this is the key part is dead we're still here we know that the kiddos are at home but we're here to be able to help him to be able to support and this is where we need you to be able to continue to help your student be an advocate for themselves to be able to reach out their teacher encouraged them if they're struggling with something to be able to sign up for or to participate in that small group intervention in the morning and to be able to get the support that they may need we will continue to offer Palomar College courses as well all of our juniors are taking their US History still through the college it will be different not being able to have the students in class but we will still be providing the same as it all set up to be able to continue to work with the students to be able to make sure that there is successful as they possibly can be I'm in not only that course but all of the college courses that are students are engaged in I we talked about student advocacy is there soon as an IEP or a 504 plan on please make sure that you've reached out to mr. Martin and or mr. Horton and we will be able to make sure that those are reviewed and in place we are you need to do everything we can to me all of the accommodations necessary to be able to take care of your kids will family to qualify for free and reduced-price lunch still have access to lunch distribution absolutely you should have gotten an email over the past couple of days we will be having lunch distribution for the entire week again but it will be at our site this year as opposed to us being able to have our students and our parents I'm pushed to other school sites in to have a level of efficiency within the entire District but that was for summer distribution now we will be doing regular site distribution and it is on Mondays from 2:30 until 4 and if you have any questions about that we can reach out directly to myself or Miss Debbie in the office and we should be able to answer that for you will there be Sports this year I hope so GIF I'm pushing everything into a combine two seasons that won't start until January I believe that football is the earliest sport that is able to start practicing and as of right now they are not set to even begin practice until mid-December and sell right now everything with us Texas Crowley on hold but they do have a plan in place to be able to start it up and to be able to do a combination of Athletics in the January through Macy's when we eventually Acquisitions need to wear mask that will be dependent on guidance that we get or from the state and local health and so that's not a question that I can answer right now but it's something that we will keep you all informed us as we go through that process I'm could we contact for technical support I hope to leave clarified that one as a piece of mainly mr. Horton just RV Thornburg have helped to moderate some of those but I am happy to give me a second to scroll through a little bit and then see if there's any we can answer if we want to raise Gander if there's anything that hasn't been I don't want to start talking about things that may have already been answered further down school day sat are about to be very very popular remember if you fill out this form you will get to the right person for Tech help the fastest you can talk as long as you want and it will give me how to read me now 54 new messages love you all dearly you ask wonderful question stressful remember any freshman applying this year or next year does not need an SAT test so you can relax that don't need an SAT test to apply all the kids that have reached out to me I look on the website and as I get information for the State of California and one of the last persons is there any way for parents to check the progress of the students park yes teachers will still be using Aries as the Gradebook and so you will still be able to go into Aries in order to be able to back on actual grades and the work that's being turned in Google Classroom is the management system so that you can see everything that's being assigned you can see the content of the work itself and so if there's an essay that has been 9 denarii we may just be able to see college essay 50 points but going into Google Classroom you'll be able to see how the teacher presented the expectations and the rubric for the essay and hopefully response refer to this as soon did you can see that your child spent four weeks working on this wonderful essay or you may see that they started the draft 2 hours before and then turned it in explain part of the reason why the grade is what it is mans don't you cry tonight Google classroom for PE absolutely any other generic General chance we might be able to answer Melanie UCLA see what I'm answering all right wow Joe I miss your voice act I can't answer that question right now but we'll go ahead and kind of end where we are right now if there's any other questions feel free to email us and we will go from there thank you guys so much we appreciate you taking
