Western Center Academy Student Scored in the Top One Percent

A senior at Western Center Academy tested in the top one percent of students nation-wide that took the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Due to his high test scores he was chosen as a semifinalist for the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Elisha Dayag said he is thankful for the great opportunity to be selected a semifinalist and to be able to represent Western Center Academy and Hemet Unified School District (HUSD). Elisha was the only semifinalist in the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley.

Elisha hopes to attend Stanford University and major in applied mathematics. Throughout his high school career, he has already taken five college classes and multiple Advanced Placement Classes. He is also currently enrolled at Mt. San Jacinto College and Coastline Community College to take prerequisite classes so he can focus on his major when he attends college after high school.

Elisha is a well-rounded student, said Assistant Principal Michael Horton. Elisha is on the Track and Field and Cross Country team, President of his church’s youth group, and a part of the West Valley High School Academic Decathlon Team which won at the county level last year.

Assistant Principal Michael Horton said with the amount of things Elisha has accomplished you wouldn’t expect him to be so modest. Principal Paul Bailey said, “Elisha has an amazing ability to not only inspire other students but to motivate students to aspire to their goals.”

Congratulations Elisha on your continued dedication to your educational journey!
