Thank you for your interest in the Western Center Academy. Our in-person parent information meetings for the 24/25 school year have concluded. If you would like to apply for enrollment, please watch the parent information video https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mTbZ6fowpgTZcUn2V6LHlpGc7Al8iGcE/view?usp=sharing and complete the short form from the link at the end of the video. Once you have watched the video and completed the form, please come to the office to pick up an application.

Western Center Academy High School is a mixture of honors, Advanced Placement, and dual-enrollment college courses focused around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

The small school environment, accelerated curriculum, and other opportunities to prepare for a STEM college major and career might just be perfect for your child.  More information will be given at our informational meetings.  

 

In order to apply to WCA Middle School in 6th grade:

  • Parents are encouraged to attend an informational meeting
  • Complete an application to be entered into the lottery

 

In order to apply to WCA Middle School in 7th or 8th grade:

  • Parents are encouraged to attend an informational meeting
  • Students must meet with administration to determine correct placement
  • Complete an application to be entered into the lottery

 

In order to apply to WCA High School in 9th grade:

  • Parents are encouraged to attend an informational meeting
  • Students who did not attend WCA middle school must set up a transition meeting with administration
  • Complete an application to be entered into the lottery

 

In order to apply to WCA High School as a 10th, 11th, or 12th grades:

  • Parents are encouraged to attend an informational meeting
  • Students must meet with the school counselor to analyze transcripts and make a graduation plan
  • Complete an application to be entered into the lottery

 

Depending on the demand for the 90 spots at each grade level in high school and 128 in middle school, there may be a lottery to determine enrollment in the school.  
 

Admissions Packet

A completed admissions packet consisting of Intent to Enroll, Parent Form and Student Form must be received in the Western Center Academy office by the deadline Late applications will not be eligible for the lottery.  Admissions packets turned in after the deadline will be placed on the wait list in the order they are received.

Western Center Academy has admissions preferences, as outlined in our admissions policy (available upon request at the Charter School office). One of the admissions preferences includes a preference for students who are currently enrolled in or who reside in the elementary school attendance area of the public elementary school in which Western Center Academy is located (for purposes of the Charter School Facility Grant Program).

Lottery

If more applications are received than there are available openings, a lottery will be held. Students who are drawn for the following school year will be contacted via email.
We pull students from the waitlist throughout the year and will make several attempts to contact you. New applications are accepted at any time and will be placed at the bottom of the waitlist. 

The waitlist does not roll over from year to year. If a student was not accepted, we encourage you to apply for the following school year.

Pertussis (Whooping Cough) Law
To help protect your children and others from whooping cough, a new California law now requires students to be vaccinated against whooping cough.  All students entering 7th grade will need proof of an adolescent whooping cough booster shot (Tdap) before starting school.

COVID

As a school of the Hemet Unified School District, we follow all rules and regulations set forth by the District in regards to COVID.

Such documentation can be a resolution adopted by the charter school’s governing Board, or information on the school’ website which sets forth, to the satisfaction of the Authority:

  • The charter school has a preference in admissions policy
  • The charter gives a preference in admissions to pupils who are currently enrolled in the local elementary school the charter school is relying on to meet the Charter School Facility Grant Program Free and Reduced Priced Meal requirement and to pupils who reside in the elementary school attendance area where the charter school site is located.
  • It is not necessary for the public elementary school to be specified by name so long as the above conditions are met.
